John Oates, from Hall & Oates, was revealed as the Anteater on ‘The Masked Singer.’ Apparently, he joined ‘The Masked Singer’ with a strategic purpose. He viewed the show as a platform to discuss his other projects and charity work and to let people know about his new music. In a recent interview with HollywoodLife, he said:

“I thought it was an amazing show. I mean, any show that’s on TV for 10 seasons with the amount of viewership it has is incredibly big. I thought, if I do a show like this, I can get a chance to talk about a lot of other things that I’m doing, get a chance to let people know that I have a whole other life. I do a lot of charity work, I’m releasing new music, all that kind of stuff. There was a little bit of an ulterior motive involved.”

After more than 50 years of musical partnership, Daryl Hall and John Oates are at each other’s throats. Hall has accused Oates of blindsiding and betraying him, saying their relationship and his trust in Oates have deteriorated. They even took their problems to court with Hall seeking a restraining order on Oates’ behalf.

These days, in another interview with Ew about his participation in ‘The Masked Singer,’ he expressed his joy at being able to sing without revealing his personality connected to his past. Talking about the reason he joined ‘The Masked Singer,’ he said:

“First of all, it’s fun and I want to do things — I’m in a point in my career where I can do anything I want, and it’s fun to do something different. So it worked, and I thought it would be a great way for me to do something different where I could sing and not have my voice and my personality connected to my past, which I’m really at this point now in my life, I’m really making an effort to kind of leave my past in the past and move forward. I’ve got a lot of good things that are happening and I want to do that. So it was kind of a motivation to say, hey, you know what? I’m going to sing. No one’s going to know who I am, and we’ll see what happens.”
