In a new interview with Metro, John Lydon addressed the possibility of a Sex Pistols reunion.

“No, I made that clear a long time ago,” the singer answered when asked if a reunion tour would ever happen.

Lydon added, “Yeah, they’re impossibly heart-turgid and difficult to deal with and just basically have very bad natures.”

“I think going out and doing this is in extremely poor taste. If you don’t want me around, that’s all well and fine, get your stand-up comedian in my place, but leave my words out of it, because it’s clear you don’t understand them,” the rocker shared.

On June 3, 2024, Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Glen Matlock announced two reunion shows at Bush Hall in Shepherd’s Bush. They called it ‘Frank Carter and Sex Pistols,’ with Frank Carter replacing Lydon.

“I wrote the f*cking songs, didn’t I? I gave them the image as the frontman,” Lydon recently answered in another chat when asked if the band’s spirit is lost without him as the singer. “I am the voice what made the whole world sing.”

The musician continued, “Now you’re going out… As they did the year before with Billy Idol. It’s just karaoke really. I would love to be embarrassed by high-quality songwriting from them.”

“They’ve had long enough to get that together now, haven’t they? But no, they profess their hatred for me but they can’t live without me. I am the punishment that goes on giving [Laughs],” Lydon stated.

In a conversation with The i Paper earlier this month, the vocalist again criticized his former bandmates, saying, “When I first heard that the Sex Pistols were touring this year without me it pissed me off. It annoyed me.”

He noted, “I just thought, ‘They’re absolutely going to kill all that was good with the Pistols by eliminating the point and the purpose of it all.’ I didn’t write those words lightly.”

“They’re trying to trivialise the whole show to get away with karaoke but in the long term I think you’ll see who has the value and who doesn’t. I’ve never sold my soul to make a dollar. It’s the Catholic in me – that guilt I don’t want to trip,” Lydon further slammed Sex Pistols.

In January 2025, the Sex Pistols announced their first Australian tour in almost 30 years, set for April 2025.
