Sex Pistols’ John Lydon was recently interviewed by The Sun and slammed the band’s upcoming biopic, shot despite his disapproval. The singer harshly criticized the mini-series and his former bandmates by claiming they wouldn’t have done anything without him.

A short time ago, Sex Pistols and Universal Music Group announced that they would release a new complication album named ‘The Original Recordings’ featuring their iconic songs between 1976 and 78 on May 27, 2022. Then, Lydon posted a statement on his official Facebook account, saying that he chose not to be a part of this project because it would be a substandard album compared to the previous Sex Pistols’ ones.

Moreover, the record will accompany the band’s autobiographical mini-series entitled ‘Pistol,’ which will air on May 31, 2022, on Hulu. The remaining band members didn’t collaborate with Lydon again, probably due to communication and personal problems that also ended the band’s musical journey for good. Therefore, the frontman heavily targeted the new show and described it as ‘the most disrespectful sh*t’ he had ever seen.

During his interview, Lydon shared his thoughts and ideas about ‘Pistol’ and highlighted that the other members cut him out of the production and creation process. He found it ridiculous and unbelievable, along with insulting them many times. The Sex Pistols icon said that none of them wouldn’t be as famous and commercially successful as like that without his vision and talent. Lydon added that he has to watch to fact-check the things about him.

Here’s what Lydon said:

“Cutting me out is a shockingly stupid move. It’s so ridiculous and preposterous. They can all f*ck off. I supported them for years and years and years, knowing they were deadwood. None of them would have a career but for me. They did nothing before; they’ve done nothing since.

I don’t really want to watch it, but I will need to fact-check it. I have not seen one single second of it, not any script. I’ve been completely ostracised. To be misrepresented in such a rude manner is unacceptable. If there were any truth, they wouldn’t have kept it from me. They were putting this together for three solid years behind my back without involving me in any way, shape, or form.”
