John Corabi Wants To Punch Glenn Hughes In The Face

In a recent interview with The Rockpit, former Mötley Crüe vocalist John Corabi praised the vocal abilities of rock singers like Glenn Hughes and Steven Tyler despite their age:

“You know, there is always that rarity, obviously, when people start getting to be -and I’m not taking a piss out of Glenn at all-, but when you get to be in your late 60s, 70s, mid-70s, you look at people not just Glenn Hughes and Steven Tyler… like how the f*ck are you still singing ‘Dream On’ and hitting all those notes and it’s just weird.”

Corabi specifically highlighted Glenn Hughes, noting that he found himself caught up in watching videos of Hughes’ performances, and shared his thoughts about Hughes:

“When I came back with the band, I really dove into the stuff Glenn did, and I’m just sitting there and watching videos and different sh*t like that, and holy sh*t, I love Glenn Hughes, he’s a dear friend, but I want to f*cking punch him in the throat! How are you still doing these notes? He’s a freak, he’s just a f*cking freak. Nothing but mad love for the guy.”

The vocalist also told an anecdote from his Mötley Crüe times and emphasised the importance of genuine talent and its contrast with people who rely on autotune:

“Even when I worked with him when we were in Mötley and he did ‘Misunderstood’ with me and we were literally just sitting there watching him do his thing and it was just like this jaw-dropping moment in my life and I said ‘There’s a difference between all the guys that had actual f*cking talent and the people that are wizs on autotune.'”

The Dead Daisies frontman frequently praises Glenn Hughes’ vocals. In a recent interview regarding him and Jon Stevens, he said:

“I have nothing but mad respect for both of those guys. But unfortunately, I was never able to see the band when they were singing. That guy is genuinely a freak, and the fact that he still sings the way he sings is just mind-boggling to me. I mean, it’s insane.”

The Dead Daisies will hit the road this November to Europe and Quireboys’ Spike will accompany them. The band will be on tour from November 4th until December 16th. You can check here for the full dates and tickets.
