Former Mötley Crüe frontman John Corabi slammed the TV series ‘Pam & Tommy’ based on the band’s drummer Tommy Lee and his-ex wife and model, Pamela Anderson’s relationship and sex tape by sharing a post on his official Twitter account. Corabi wanted to draw attention to the fictional details regarding Mötley Crüe and Lee himself.
Lee and Anderson’s past relationship can be described as very turbulent and full of ups and downs because of their lifestyle and extraordinary personalities. The singer and the Playboy Playmate met when Lee was engaged to model Bobbie Brown, but it didn’t stop them. The couple decided to tie the knot on February 19, 1995, just four days after they met, but their happiness couldn’t last long, and they got divorced three years later.
In addition to their relationship, Lee and Anderson were in almost every newspaper or magazine’s headliner after the sex tape they recorded during a vacation was stolen and went viral. It’s claimed that Rand Gauthier, who was working on the house renovation, found and wanted to sell it. Then, Lee and Anderson sued video distribution company Internet Entertainment Group but reached a confidential settlement in the end.
In May 2021, it was announced that there would be a new biographical drama entitled ‘Pam & Tommy,’ which would focus on the sex tape issue along with the couple’s relationship. It recently started airing on Hulu, and both ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ star Sebastian Stan and ‘Cinderella’ star Lily James’ performance as Lee and Anderson drew great attention. However, some fans targeted the show because of the portrayals of the icons and Mötley Crüe’s representation.
As the person who spent five years with Lee while he was fronting Mötley Crüe, Corabi highlighted that Lee and Anderson’s portrayal is wildly ‘overblown’ and that Lee never walked around with Speedo. He pointed out the scene in episode 5 in which Third Eye Blind comes and takes their studio due to the band’s declining popularity saying that it was completely ‘shit’ and the whole drama itself is an insult to the ex-lovers and their families.
John Corabi’s tweet read:
“Ok, just my opinion here on something that’s been bugging me. The Tommy and Pam miniseries on Hulu is so full of bullshit, it’s ridiculous! I can honestly say about 98% of this fictional take on T&P’s life is criminal. I shared five years of my life with Tommy, and although it was sometimes insanity, it’s so overblown in this shit they call tv entertainment.
Tommy never walked around in a Speedo, didn’t act as they portray him, and now I see that Third Eye Blind bumps us from a studio because they’re more relevant? Didn’t happen. Apparently, Hulu and all involved in this crock of shit don’t care about how Pam may feel to have to relive this. Or how Tommy’s new wife may feel, or how about Tommy’s boys seeing this completely overblown story about their parents. Shame on everyone involved.“
