In a new interview with Rock Daydream Nation, former Mötley Crüe rocker John Corabi revealed that he was ‘backstabbed’ by his bandmates back in the four years he was in the band.

Although Corabi didn’t want to be fired, he admits that it came with a surprising sense of relief because of the internal problems in the band. “There was so much drama in that band and turmoil. And so when they told me that they were bringing Vince back, there was a huge part of me that was bummed and kind of upset, but there was another part of me that felt like a 300-pound man was standing on my shoulders,” he explained. “There was just so much drama with those guys,” Corabi added.

“I would work out in the morning with Nikki and he would talk about Tommy and Mick,” he recalled. “Then I would go hang out with Tommy to write music in the afternoon, and he would talk about Nikki and Mick. And I was living in Mick’s guest house, so then I would come home at night and I would sit and have a drink with Mick and he would talk about Tommy and Nikki.”

Corabi’s frustration is clear when he talks about the constant drama. “And I was, like, ‘Oh my God. It’s impossible to keep up with all this bullshit.’ You know what I mean? So when they told me, ‘Hey, dude, Vince is coming back,’ I was bummed,” he added.

Earlier, the rocker revealed Mötley Crüe’s plan to fire Mick Mars. Mars stopped touring with Mötley Crüe altogether in October 2022 after his ongoing health issues but said he would remain a member.

“I don’t think I enlightened anybody about anything, because even Mick has said doing the ‘Generation Swine’ record [1997] was the most miserable, worst f*cking time of my life and Tommy [Lee] and Nikki [Sixx] and [producer] Scott Humphrey literally got under Mick’s skin mentally and made him feel like he wasn’t a very good guitar player.”

Corabi also mentioned in a previous interview that he is thankful for his time with Mötley Crüe and the opportunity the band gave him. However, he revealed that he isn’t expecting any kind of celebration for the one Mötley Crüe album he contributed his vocals to. “I highly doubt that you know it’s ever going to happen. Because it’s like it is what it is. Mötley Crüe is Mötley Crüe. John Corabi is John Corabi,” he said.

The rocker added, “I try not to get involved in anything Mötley. I get asked questions, I answer them and move on. But I don’t think honestly from where I’m standing, Mötley’s gone out of their way to remove that part of their history from their history, so it is what it is.”

While Corabi currently doesn’t have any scheduled shows, Mötley Crüe is getting ready for their Las Vegas tour, starting on March 28.
