Jeremy Asbrock recently spoke with All Music Magazine and disclosed the differences between Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley, while breaking down prejudices about Simmons’ take on life.

The guitarist worked both with Gene and Ace for years, and when the host pointed out how he expected Simmons to be much more strict than Frehley since the KISS bassist seemed to have a ‘businessman-like‘ attitude, Asbrock’s answer signaled the ‘complete opposite:’

“It’s funny, it’s actually the complete opposite of what you just said. Gene does like to have fun. We played a different setlist every show. There was not one show that was the same. We did 65 different songs over a year and a half. He liked [to] hang out before the show and after the show.”

Asbrock then also revealed how Simmons had no problems when it came to pranking and joking around with his touring bandmates:

“He likes to play practical jokes and cut up and buster balls, and he loves it when you give it back. The first time I had to give it back, I was scared sh*tless. [But] He laughed and I’m like ‘Oh, it’s okay.'”

However, it seemed that Frehley was the exact opposite, as he had more of the ‘businessman-like’ attitude people thought of Gene having:

“Ace is kind of a creature of habit. We kind of stick to the same set. He shows up, I know he’s there because I hear the intro music come on and [then] I see him, we’re going on stage. He gives me one of these [mimics a thumbs up], and we play and after the show, he goes to cool off. And then do his meet and greet, and we leave. So there’s not that social time with him.”

Simmons had previously complained how he had no friends due to his practical views on life, while Frehley had accused his former bandmate of commercializing everything.
