Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson recently addressed speculation about the band’s potential retirement, clarifying their future plans in an interview with The Metal Voice.
When asked if Foreigner is close to retirement, Pilson revealed that the band has no plans to call it quits. He cited the positive impact of their new lineup.
“Actually not because you know we have a new singer and Luis Maldonado and his force of nature is incredible and wait till you hear him sing and perform,” Pilson said. “The guy is astonishing and uh he’s actually breathed a lot of new life into the band.”
The bassist emphasized the band’s renewed energy and future prospects.
“So we have we have much more coming and no it’s not anywhere near the end of the road,” he continued. “We thought it was going to be at one point but not anymore. We’re rocking.”
Pilson’s comments come at a time when Foreigner has undergone significant lineup changes. The band has maintained their touring momentum and fan base.
Blabbermouth reported that the current Foreigner lineup includes Luis Maldonado on lead vocals and guitar, Jeff Pilson on bass, Michael Bluestein on keyboards, lead guitarist Bruce Watson, and Chris Frazier on drums. Luis joined Foreigner as guitarist and backing vocalist in 2021 before taking over lead vocals from longtime singer Kelly Hansen last year.
The band’s evolution has been marked by the support of original members, particularly founding vocalist Lou Gramm. Blabbermouth noted that Pilson observed Lou Gramm has been “so wonderful and supportive” during their current tour despite no original members being in the active lineup.
Looking ahead, Foreigner has ambitious touring plans that demonstrate their commitment to continuing as a band. AOL revealed that Lynyrd Skynyrd will be hitting the road alongside Foreigner in 2026 for the “Double Trouble Double Vision” tour. This represents a major milestone for both classic rock acts.
The band’s recent activities also include special appearances that bridge their past and present. Parade confirmed that Lou Gramm has announced two special shows with his former band. This creates opportunities for fans to experience both the classic and contemporary versions of Foreigner’s music.
Pilson’s comments suggest that Foreigner’s new vocalist Luis Maldonado has revitalized the legendary rock band. This sets the stage for continued touring and potentially new music as they move forward with renewed energy and purpose.
