In a recent interview with Spotlight Report, Jay Weinberg talked about his new gig with Infectious Grooves. Weinberg called working with Metallica guitarist Rob Trujillo an absolute dream. He also detailed their relationship in the band:

“We obviously have different backgrounds, but to have a love for all styles of music and have that feed into the high energy, heavy, you know, the trashy, the punk, the, you know, every everything, the funk, even, you know, it’s very it’s very cool to get into a room with people where you don’t have to talk. … So, yeah, locking in to Robert on bass is like an absolute dream, as a drummer, that’s just like it’s, it’s so much fun and feels like driving a Ferrari or something.”

Former Slipknot drummer also confirmed that Infectious Grooves were working on some new music. He added:

“We’ve even gone into the studio and recorded some new Infectious Grooves material, which is unreal and so exciting and inspired and, just captures the energy of, of positivity and excitement that we’re all feeling with there. I’m really excited.”

Jay Weinberg’s Split With Slipknot

Last year, Slipknot announced their decision to part ways with Weinberg due to creative reasons. The band thanked the drummer for his contributions in a social media post shared on their official accounts. The statement reads:

“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style, or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums, and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

Weinberg responded to the news with a farewell message he posted on Instagram and said:

“I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after. However, I’ve been overwhelmed by — and truly grateful for — the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home. This is not the ending to the journey I’d dreamt of, and committed myself to seeing through — not by a long shot. But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that’s provided an equal amount of comfort.”

Weinberg Is Back To Music Scene

Although Jay has been struggling with his recovery period after the hip surgery, he didn’t wait much to return to the music scene. Earlier this year, Weinberg started working with Rob Trujillo for his band Infectious Grooves. Soon later, he shared an Instagram post to announce that he officially joined Suicidal Tendencies. Weinberg stated in the caption:

“Having toured and played shows together all over the world, I’ve been so fortunate to become friends with my musical heroes, who have been a part of this band’s incredible history. It’s an absolute honor and privilege to play with Suicidal Tendencies, and I can’t wait to start this incredibly exciting new chapter in just one week! See you all in the pit!”

Following his sudden departure from Slipknot, Jay Weinberg is looking forward to expanding his career with exciting new collaborations. On the other hand, Slipknot didn’t officially announce their new drummer but started giving hints on social media platforms.
