In a recent Instagram post, Slipknot hinted at rehearsals with a new drummer, sparking speculation and excitement among fans.

Slipknot has started rehearsals with a new drummer after the departure of Jay Weinberg in November last year. The band stirred the pot of curiosity among their fanbase on Saturday, March 9, with a cryptic social media post featuring a broken drumstick and a simple caption read:

“Rehearsal.”

Fan Speculation Ignites

While Slipknot remains tight-lipped about the identity of their new drummer, eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out clues suggesting the new member could be Eloy Casagrande, known for his tenure with Sepultura. The shared image of a Promark drumstick, a brand Casagrande endorses, further fueled speculations. Fans flooded the comments with their theories. One person said:

“It’s Eloy. Stop acting like 100% of us don’t know.”

Another comment noted, recognizing the drumstick:

“TX5BW, Eloy’s signature drumstick!”

One other fan added:

“Oh man, that’s Eloy. Please, god, do not let this not be Eloy.”

Casagrande’s departure from Sepultura last month to join ‘another project’ coincided timely, aligning with the speculation surrounding Slipknot’s new drummer. After Sepultura’s announcement of a farewell tour for their 40th anniversary in 2024, the timing of Casagrande’s exit and the cryptic clue from Slipknot seem more than coincidental, leaving fans to connect the dots.

A Farewell To Jay Weinberg

Slipknot and Weinberg parted ways in November 2023, a decision announced by the band as a creative move. Weinberg, who took over from Joey Jordison in 2013, expressed his shock and heartbreak over the departure. His final performance with the band was at the Hell & Heaven festival in Toluca, Mexico. The band acknowledged Weinberg’s contributions over the years, saying in a statement:

“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style, or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums, and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

Slipknot will kick off its 2024 concert lineup with a performance on April 27 at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas. The band will then make appearances at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12 and at Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio, on May 19.
