In the middle of Papa Roach’s ongoing US tour, Jacoby Shaddix took the time for a chat with Lazer 103.3. During the interview, he mentioned Stone Temple Pilots’ influence on shaping his band’s career. He recalled:

“I remember playing with Stone Temple Pilots back in, like, 2001, and we open the show. It was at this brand-new amphitheater outside Sacramento, where we’re from, and I remember watching their set.”

The singer went on to explain what affected him during the concert by saying:

“It was just like a greatest hits setlist. Like, everything. ‘I know that song!’ and it was just song after song after song, and the show is an hour and a half. It felt like it was forty-five minutes because it was just engaging and entertaining, and it was like, ‘I want that. That’s the goal for the band. Let’s do that!'”

Reflecting on the band’s career today, he added:

“We saw it alive in front of us, and here we are. 2023. Twenty somewhat years later, from first breaking onto the scene and major label game and still killing it in the game. Still making music that’s resonating and connecting, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Over the years, Papa Roach branched out and started their own record company, New Noize, which put out their latest album ‘Ego Trip’ in 2022. Shaddix talked about their label in an interview with Detroit’s WRIF radio station back in May and mentioned plans to make it bigger. He said:

“At one point or another, we’re gonna sign [another] band [to our label]; that’s gonna be something that we do. But I think for us right now, we’re gonna focus on Papa Roach another cycle and build the infrastructure, and then it’s, like, ‘All right, here we go. We’ve tested this thing out with our band for a while… So what’s the next phase?’ It’s exciting. That’s what we’re finding out.”
