Jack White Reacts To Elon Musk’s Hypocrisy About Kanye West

Elon Musk made another controversial move after promising to make Twitter great again — he recently suspended Kanye West from using the platform. As the Tesla CEO had promoted freedom of speech, this move raised eyebrows. White Stripes frontman Jack White joined those who criticized Musk’s hypocrisy with a statement he issued on Instagram.

When Elon Musk took over Twitter, the first thing he did was firing %50 of the staff. While this was enough to put him at the center of public criticism, he restored Donald Trump’s account to make Twitter a platform ruled by freedom of speech. However, this caused him to receive backlash from many, including Trent Reznor and Jack White.

Reznor reacted to the news by deleting his account, which had over 1.5 million followers. On the other hand, Jack White deactivated the account of his record label, Third Man Records. He then took to his Instagram to post a lengthy statement attacking Musk for allowing professional, conspiracy-spreading liars like Trump to use the platform. Recently, the musician posted on IG again after Musk banned Kanye West’s account.

“So Elon, how’s that ‘free speech’ thing working out?” wrote Jack White. “Oh, I see, so you have to choose who gets free speech and who doesn’t, then? What kind of crybaby liberal suspends someone’s free speech? Hmm… Conspiracy liar Alex Jones doesn’t get ‘free speech’ either? I see. So you’re learning that these folks incite violence and hatred but Trump… doesn’t? Hmm.”

He continued, touching upon Kanye West and Alex Jones’ recent interview, “Or is it that liar Jones and anti-Semite egomaniac Kanye can’t provide tax breaks for billionaires the way the former president could? Or maybe the controller of this ‘free speech’ is insulted personally? Or maybe there needs to be, oh, I don’t know, rules and regulations, or else you breed chaos?”

Jack then added, “It’s nice to watch in real time as you learn that all things need to be regulated, whether that be guns, drugs, alcohol, assembly, or speech, because of the danger of someone or something being hurt or destroyed. They’re sometimes called ‘laws.’ And perhaps you’re learning how harmful it can be when you let dangerous and hateful people say whatever they want on your stage.”

White ended his words by saying he didn’t want any debate for his remarks. He stressed, “Comments are turned off on this post. This isn’t a debate forum. This is me talking on my front porch, not debating in the Town Square. I regulate the platforms I control too. Do the right thing, Elon, and don’t provide other hatemongers a stage; let them go talk in the Town Square (and no, Twitter isn’t Town Square owned by the government, it’s a private company owned by Elon Musk).”

Elon Musk suspended Kanye West’s account hours after the rapper praised Adolf Hitler and the Nazis during an interview with the rightwing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Infowars. The Tesla CEO revealed that he banned Ye for inciting violence. Apparently, Jack White believes this is hypocrisy since Musk restored Trump’s account for freedom of speech but banned West from using the platform.
