Jack Russell appeared in a new short interview with TotalRock, where he discussed both Great White and Jack Russell’s Great White. During the interview, the rocker expressed his emotions about not being able to front his former band back then. When asked whether or not he still has to put up with the fact that he has to go out as Jack Russell’s Great White while being the frontman of the band, he explained how it felt shortly:
“Yeah, it is. This is a slap on the face, whatever. At least I get to play. At least I get to use a part of the moniker that I created.”
Why Jack Russell Sued The Great White
In 2012, Russell filed a lawsuit against his former bandmates for using the name Great White without his consent, as he had taken a hiatus from the band due to health reasons. Shortly after, the rest of the band members countersued Russell, asserting that his self-destructive actions were causing harm to the Great White. They also claimed that Russell was charging promoters less for his separate touring version of the band. The dispute was resolved in July 2013 through a settlement, leading to Russell’s current performances under the name Jack Russell’s Great White, while the others continue under the name Great White.
Russell Is Not Interested In Playing With Mark Kendall Again
Earlier, Russell was asked about the possibility of performing with Mark Kendall. While he mentioned his openness to a friendly conversation with Kendall about their past, his response to the collaboration was negative. Russell cited Kendall’s tendency to speak negatively about him in interviews, expressing frustration at Kendall’s critical remarks despite concluding with well-wishing sentiments. Additionally, he clarified that he has no interest in playing music with him, noting that Kendall doubts his ability to handle such collaborations:
“Don’t get me wrong — if Mark called me right now, I’d love to have a wonderful chat with him and talk about the old days. I have no interest in playing with him. And he doesn’t think I can handle it anyway. But it’s funny — I can go out and play with my own band.”
