Following the post, fans quickly began expressing their hopes for a reunion. One Damn Yankees fan commented asking about a potential “Shaw/Blades reunion,” while another fan wrote requesting a reunion and wishing Shaw a happy birthday.

The speculation comes as Blades has recently been performing with another former Damn Yankees bandmate, Ted Nugent, in recent weeks, further fueling fan hopes for a full band reunion.

The fan excitement isn’t entirely unfounded. The former bandmates have maintained their friendship and occasionally performed together over the years.

Styx World reported that Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw performed together live in California in July 2024, playing their 1990 Top 5 hit “High Enough” for the first time in years. The performance delighted fans with a nostalgic moment on stage and demonstrated that the chemistry between the two musicians remains strong despite their separate career paths.

However, Shaw has previously tempered reunion expectations. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that Tommy Shaw has downplayed reunion prospects, citing his full commitments with Styx and suggesting that the Damn Yankees era “ran until the wheels fell off.”

“I think we ran that thing until the wheels fell off,” Shaw said in a previous interview about potential reunion plans.

The band’s history includes some unfinished business that adds intrigue to reunion speculation. Wikipedia documented that the band had a shelved third album from 1999. Songs from this unreleased material have since trickled into solo projects by the members. This unreleased material could potentially serve as a foundation for any future reunion efforts.

Despite Shaw’s previous comments about reunion unlikelihood, the recent birthday message and fan response demonstrate the enduring appeal of the supergroup. The band brought together members from Night Ranger, Styx, and Ted Nugent’s band in the early 1990s.
