Former Killswitch Engage members Adam Dutkiewicz and Howard Jones have released the first single from their new band Burn Eternal. The track, titled “Wounds I’ve Made,” was announced on Instagram.
The song comes ahead of Burn Eternal’s self-titled debut album, which is set to arrive on February 26th. The band shared a visualizer for the new track alongside news of the release.
“Here we go! Burn Eternal’s first single, ‘Wounds I’ve Made’ is officially out now!” Burn Eternal’s announcement read. “Their debut, self-titled record drops February 26th! Check out the visualizer for the new track and pre-order your copy NOW.”
Howard Jones explained the meaning behind the song. “Wounds I’ve Made is about both acknowledging mistakes and regrets of the past, while also constantly evolving and moving forward,” he said. “Sometimes change hurts, but it’s necessary for self-growth and to avoid being stuck in the past. Some relationships aren’t meant to be.”
Dutkiewicz then reflected on the song’s creation. “We are glad to finally release Wounds I’ve Made. It’s crazy to think that this was one of the first songs I wrote for this project… six years ago! I really hope you guys dig it,” he added.
Burn Eternal’s self-titled debut album is scheduled to arrive on February 26th. Pre-orders for the record are now available.
Dutkiewicz and Jones last worked together in Killswitch Engage between 2002 and 2012. The band achieved Grammy nominations for “The End of Heartache” and reached platinum sales with “As Daylight Dies” during their time together. Jones left the band on January 4, 2012.
The two musicians first revealed they were working together in 2023 when Jones posted on social media that they had finished their first song. By December 2023, Jones shared that vocal recording had been completed. The album was mixed by December 2024. Having signed to Metal Blade Records, this marks their first in-studio reunion for almost 15 years.
Jones described how the project came together, saying the band went from an idea discussed during lunch in London to a completed album. He called it “such a fun way to reconnect with my friend.” Before this full collaboration, Jones had reunited with Killswitch Engage as a guest at select live shows in 2018 and handled co-lead vocals on the 2019 single “The Signal Fire.”
