Tenacious D has ‘did it again.’
Last Thursday, the members of Tenacious D, who are also close friends, shared a preview of their cover of Britney Spears’ iconic 1998 hit “…Baby One More Time.” The duo accompanied the teaser with a video featuring the duo energetically performing the song.
Towards the end of the clip, Jack Black raises his fist, displaying the word ‘baby’ written across his fingers.
While fans loved the video, one commenter referred to Jack Black as a ‘national treasure’:
“Jack Black is a national treasure and should be protected at all times.”
A fan even asked for an album full of Britney Spears covers:
“I demand a full Tenacious D album of Britney Spears covers.”
And some even needed a song like this in their lives:
“Had no idea how much I needed this.”
Is The Cover Related To ‘Kung Fu Panda’?
Jack Black reprised his role as the heroic character Po in the upcoming ‘Kung Fu Panda 4,’ marking his return to the franchise after over eight years since the release of ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ in 2016. In the interim period, Black also lent his voice to Po in ‘Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight,’ a production that premiered on Netflix in 2022 and unveiled its third season in September of the same year.
With the release of this recent video, some speculated that the full version of the song might appear in the upcoming ‘Kung Fu Panda’ movie. The speculation arose due to the emojis the duo shared in the caption of the video: a panda emoji, while on X, there was a panda, a tiger, and a collision emoji.
We will find out whether or not it is related to the movie on March 8.
