Guitarist Sabian Lynch nearly took action while Alpha Wolf’s vocalist Lochie Keogh was pulled off stage by security.
A video has been posted online showing a security guard pulling Keogh off the stage during a recent concert. The venue’s promoter later released a statement about the incident.
The concert happened on October 30 at The Warfield in San Francisco. Alpha Wolf was one of the opening bands for headliners Dayseeker, along with Catch Your Breath and Kingdom of Giant.
Riff Magazine reported that during Alpha Wolf’s performance, Keogh accused the venue staff of treating all the bands poorly. The review also noted that his frustration might have come from crowd surfers who got hurt during their set.
The review said that Keogh took a knit hat from one of the security guards and threw it onto the stage. The guard then grabbed Keogh by his ankle and pulled him off the stage. This caused some stage lighting to get damaged.
After seeing this, Lynch threw his guitar at the guard, and a fight broke out between the band and the security. The music suddenly stopped, and the venue lights were turned on.
A spokesperson for AEG Presents, Danny Bell, which manages The Warfield, shared a statement about the incident. He said the security guard has been suspended while they look into what happened.
“We are aware of this incident and are investigating the events that led up to the unfortunate interaction,” Bell explained. “For now, the contracted security company has placed the individual on investigative leave. The safety and well-being of the audience, artists and staff are always top priority.”
A fan named Andrew Trin posted a video on social media showing Alpha Wolf arguing with security guards. Trin had crowd-surfed during a song but was dropped on his head by the guards.
Typically, security helps crowd surfers safely over the barricade, but Trin said that didn’t happen for him. He hit his head and sprained his ankle. When Lochie got upset with security, the guard pulled him off the stage, which led to a fight and ended their performance.
Another concertgoer commented that security couldn’t catch Trin because of other crowd surfers. They thought the situation was unprofessional because the singer was arguing with the security guard during the performance.
