The Danzig community on Reddit has voiced strong criticism against Glenn Danzig. Fans identified Nazi ‘Black Sun’ symbolism on merchandise during the band’s recent U.S. tour.

“Maybe this is his way of being cancelled so he doesn’t have to play Misfits reunion shows anymore,” one fan commented on the thread titled ‘FFS, Really Glenn? This is over the line.’

“I don’t think Danzig is racist or anything. I don’t think he cares about sociopolitical issues all that much,” another fan stated. “Honestly when he drops the ‘tough, evil guy’ act, he strikes me as very friendly and fun. But it’s still HIS responsibility to make sure his merch isn’t Nazi merch and this is Nazi merch.”

“Giving this a pass because ‘Glenn knows what he’s doing’ is total bullsh*t,” a longtime fan expressed. “Don’t support his trolling Nazi crap. I’ve been a Misfits and Danzig fan going way back, and frequently play his music at open mics. I’ll always love the music, but I can’t show love for an artist who uses Nazi imagery like this. And yes, that goes for Slayer and Motörhead, too.”

Fans discovered the controversial design on posters during Danzig’s current U.S. tour. The incident adds another chapter to Danzig’s history of using provocative imagery.

WBUF identified the controversial symbol as the ‘Black Sun’ or ‘Sonnenrad.’ The symbol carries direct Nazi associations and remains in use by white supremacy groups today. This connection has intensified concerns about its appearance on official merchandise.

Danzig’s artistic expression has consistently featured provocative elements. InsideHook noted his frequent use of controversial symbols. His work incorporates Iron Crosses and occult imagery as part of punk’s anti-establishment tradition.

Blunt Magazine reported that Danzig has maintained silence on the controversy. His lack of response has fueled further debate among fans and critics.

The controversy highlights an evolving discussion in music. Society now views provocative symbols through a more critical lens, considering both their historical significance and modern implications.
