A Kia Center employee has blamed the rock band Ghost for the Orlando Magic’s poor performance against the Charlotte Hornets. The employee claimed the band’s concert left negative energy in the arena, as reported by The Noise.

The employee shared their theory in a now-deleted Reddit post. They explained how they believe the band’s performance affected the basketball team’s subsequent game.

“So I work at Kia. The night before we got blown out by Charlotte there was a concert there by this rock band called Ghost and I’m not even exaggerating super satanic vibes,” the employee said. “Devil imagery, stained-glass church setup, chanting ‘Lucifer,’ all types of weird shit I’m not into at all. I was mad as hell I was forced to sit through that lol.”

The employee continued to elaborate on their unusual theory connecting the concert to the team’s performance.

“So my theory is that whatever energy they left in the building carried over into the game because there’s no other explanation for how bad we looked,” they continued. “Is this a valid excuse or are we just inconsistent af? Either way … let’s get this W tonight.”

The employee’s supernatural explanation may seem far-fetched. However, the Magic’s performance statistics from that night tell a more conventional story about their struggles on the court.

The Orlando Magic lost 124-97 to the Charlotte Hornets in the game following Ghost’s concert at the Kia Center. ESPN documented that LaMelo Ball returned to Charlotte’s starting lineup and had 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds as the Hornets dominated from the opening quarter.

The Hornets established early control of the game. They built a commanding 35-20 first-quarter lead that set the tone for the blowout victory. Lindy Sports noted that Charlotte excelled defensively, holding the Magic to just 41.8% shooting from the field while eight Hornets players scored in double figures.

Orlando’s struggles were compounded by key absences in their lineup. Click Orlando revealed that the Magic were missing guards Jalen Suggs due to a knee injury and center Moe Wagner for knee management. This left them short-handed against a motivated Charlotte team.

The loss highlighted the Magic’s inconsistency issues that have plagued them throughout the season. This provides a more rational explanation for their poor performance than any lingering supernatural influences from the previous night’s concert.
