Ghost fans on Reddit have raised concerns about similarities between the band’s new song ‘Peacefield’ and Journey’s ‘Separate Ways.’ The discussion took place on the Ghost subreddit here.

“This comes awfully close to ‘Separate Ways,'” one fan commented. Another fan expressed stronger concerns: “Seems like a pretty blatant rip-off. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a lawsuit.”

“I guess it might be possible to clear it in advance with the band and their publishers to avoid that kind of thing (like you can do with samples),” a third fan wrote. “But if not, I think a lawsuit would have a strong case. There’s no way Tobias could claim he didn’t know the song either. In some cases, I can believe one artist does accidentally come up with something too similar to something else, though.”

Fans have drawn direct comparisons between the musical elements of ‘Peacefield’ and Journey’s classic track.

The timing of this discussion marks a crucial point in Ghost’s career trajectory.

Loudwire reported that ‘Peacefield’ is the third single from Ghost’s upcoming sixth album, ‘Skeletá.’ The album will be released this Friday. The track maintains the band’s signature style of drawing inspiration from ’80s rock and metal sounds.

The musical similarities align with Ghost’s established artistic direction. Arrow Lords of Metal noted that Ghost has consistently incorporated elements from ’80s hair and pop rock classics. Frontman Tobias Forge has been open about these inspirations throughout the band’s career.

Journey released ‘Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)’ in 1983. The song became one of the band’s most recognizable tracks. Its distinctive synth and guitar riffs helped define the era’s rock sound.

Ghost plans to support their new release with extensive touring. The band began their world tour in Europe this April. North American dates will follow in July. These performances could bring additional attention to the ‘Peacefield’ controversy.
