Gene Simmons, KISS co-founder, revealed details about the band’s upcoming reunion show in an interview with GM Today.
“We will not do the makeup,” Simmons stated. “We will hold true to the promise [of never playing another KISS show in makeup].”
“There’s no stage show. There’s no crew,” he continued. “We won’t have 60 people levitating drum sets and all that stuff. This is more personal gathering of the tribes, where we meet them, greet them, maybe have a Q&A.”
The announcement follows KISS’s farewell tour. It marks a significant shift from their traditionally elaborate performances to a more intimate format.
The upcoming event opens a new chapter in KISS’s legacy. The band will maintain their connection with fans while introducing significant changes to their performance style.
Loudwire revealed the reunion show dates as November 14-16 at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. The event will coincide with the 50th anniversary celebration of the KISS Army fan group.
Former KISS member Bruce Kulick will deliver special performances during the gathering. This addition brings a nostalgic element to the event.
The rock community has shown mixed reactions to this new direction. Parade reported that Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider criticized the decision. He described it as ‘insulting’ in light of their recent farewell tour conclusion.
The stripped-down approach represents the band’s first official appearance since their final makeup performance. This format demonstrates their commitment to evolution while maintaining their fanbase connection.
