Gary Holt, guitarist for the legendary thrash metal band Exodus, recently shared his enthusiasm about the band’s upcoming album in a statement posted on Instagram. Following a grueling tour schedule that included the Bonded By Blood anniversary shows, Holt expressed confidence in the new material while reflecting on the band’s recovery period.
Holt emphasized the organic and powerful nature of the upcoming release. He highlighted the band’s collaborative approach to the songwriting and production process.
“And just like that, we are done! Despite being sick as f*ck for almost half of this, and being without our brother Jack Gibson, this last round of Bonded By Blood anniversary shows we’re all incredible,” Holt said. “And now, no shows until next March! Next time you see us, it’s new album time. And what an album it is. I know, everyone always says ‘best thing ever’ but truly we write for ourselves. And we are beyond thrilled. Most organic and massive sounding thing ever. (the more organic, the harder the mix! Took a while to be satisfied). Sounds like five dudes going for it. Bass is PROMINENT. Low end is giant. It’s killer as f*ck.”
Holt concluded by noting the band’s need for rest after an intensive year of touring and recording.
“But now, time to head home and recover, this year has been non stop. Feeling a little broken down, time to recharge and destroy!” he added.
The completion of this album marks a significant milestone for Exodus as they prepare for their next chapter. Blabbermouth reported that the new Exodus album is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2026 via Napalm Records. Gary Holt described every song on the record as an anthem. This release will follow their 2021 album Persona Non Grata, marking a significant gap in the band’s discography.
The recording process for this album has been extensive and deliberate. Recording started in early 2025, with the band capturing nearly two albums worth of material during their sessions. Metal Injection documented this ambitious recording effort. The meticulous approach to production is evident in Holt’s comments about the mixing process. It took considerable time to perfect the sound. Mark Lewis handled the mixing duties, finalizing overdubs in late 2025 to ensure the album met the band’s exacting standards.
A notable change for this album is the return of vocalist Rob Dukes to the band. Rob Dukes rejoined Exodus in early 2025 after Steve “Zetro” Souza departed. This marks a significant shift in the band’s vocal lineup and adds another layer of anticipation for fans eager to hear the new material.
Holt’s exhaustion is understandable given his demanding schedule in 2025. Beyond his work with Exodus, the guitarist toured extensively with Slayer during the summer. This contributed to what he describes as a non-stop year. Despite the physical toll, his enthusiasm for the new Exodus album remains undiminished. The band expressed pride in what they’ve created. Fans can expect the new Exodus album in March 2026, featuring a heavy, anthem-filled sound that the band is very excited about.
