Former Cradle of Filth keyboardist and vocalist Zoë M. Federoff recently issued a stark warning about the dangers of artificial intelligence in the music industry. She shared her concerns in a statement posted on Instagram.

Federoff’s statement addressed the growing concern about AI replacing human creativity in music production and artwork.

“Had a great convo with my friend Lindsay the other day,” Federoff said. “Wondering if in the near future we’ll be shopping for music that’s certified ‘100% Human Mind Origin.’ Maybe we’ll have to put stickers on the physicals.”

She continued to express her concerns about the future of authentic human creation in the industry.

“Shopping for organic human creation instead of AI will be more challenging as time passes, of that we can all be sadly sure,” she continued.

Federoff also extended her warning beyond music to visual elements of the industry.

“Also, if you reject AI music, reject AI album artwork and merchandise artwork too,” she said. “I said what I said. No substitutes for pure human creation!”

Federoff’s advocacy for human creativity comes amid ongoing legal battles with her former band. Loudwire reported that Federoff and several other former Cradle of Filth members are plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed against Dani Filth and the band’s management.

The legal dispute involves allegations of unpaid royalties and unauthorized use of their likenesses in merchandise. Guitar World noted that the lawsuit includes six former members who have raised various contractual disputes with the band’s leadership.

Federoff has been particularly vocal about financial issues during her time with the band. Metal Injection revealed that she publicly posted parts of her Cradle of Filth contract to highlight how little she was paid while in the band.

The former keyboardist left Cradle of Filth in August 2025 alongside her spouse, guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda. Stereogum described their departure as citing “foolish clown antics” from frontman Dani Filth. Their departure occurred mid-tour, adding to the ongoing tensions within the band.

Despite the legal battles, Federoff continues her musical career and has recently announced new projects. FemMetal confirmed that the Arizona-based vocalist has joined Finnish metal band Suotana for their upcoming album. This marks a new chapter in her musical journey while maintaining her stance on preserving human creativity in an increasingly AI-influenced industry.
