Five Finger Death Punch Frontman Ivan Moody Died For Three Minutes And Came Back

Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody recently revealed that he physically died for around three minutes due to a seizure triggered by alcohol and survived this near-death experience.
In a music scene whose motto is ‘sex, drugs, and rock and roll,’ an artist is highly prone to using substances. Although many use drugs to cope with the pressure of fame or for their own pleasure, others drink heavily, sometimes to the extent that it gives them dangerous seizures.
Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody is also among those battling alcoholism. In 2012, Moody’s alcoholism almost got him fired from the band because he would perform while drunk and not remember a single thing about the show the next day.
In many of Five Finger Death Punch’s shows, Moody had an onstage breakdown and left the scene abruptly. In one of these shows, he left the show claiming his mother was dying that night. Later, Moody’s sister said this wasn’t true, and it turned out Moody was drunk during that shoıw.
Considering the high degree of his alcoholism, Moody apparently had so much trouble while drunk. In an interview with Metal Hammer, the singer recalled when he almost died due to alcohol withdrawal. He stated that he locked himself inside the house for four days without drinking and was dead for around three minutes due to withdrawal symptoms. Then, his daughter’s voice helped the singer return to real life.
Ivan Moody told Metal Hammer the following about his near-death experience:
“I died! I’d been on a bender for about two years, and I’d gone four days without drinking in an entire year! Which is ridiculous. So, for four days, I locked myself inside the house, and on the fourth day, my daughter came over, and I went to hand her a glass of water, and that’s all I remember.
He then continued:
“If you quit drinking without the right medications and whatever else, you will die. That’s what happened. I was dead for about three and a half minutes, and I became part of something while I was there. I say ‘there’ because I was not in this shell. And for the first time in my existence, I felt peace.”
After struggling with his alcoholism for a period, Ivan Moody entered rehab to get sober. Like Moody, Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx also died for two minutes after a heroin overdose, but he is currently sober for years.
