Shatner had previously described his metal venture as an exploration into new musical territory.

“Ladies, gentlemen, SWs fans… I have explored space. I have explored time. Now… I explore distortion,” Shatner said. “Yes. You read that correctly. I am releasing a HEAVY METAL album. Thirty-five metal virtuosos. Thunderous guitars. Chaos with purpose.”

The album will feature covers of metal legends including Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. It will also include original compositions.

“This project is, quite literally, a gathering of forces,” Shatner continued. “Loud imagination. Honest intensity. Unapologetic exploration.”

The collaboration represents another chapter in Shatner’s diverse musical journey. It brings together some of metal’s most respected musicians for what promises to be an unprecedented project.

105.7 The Point revealed that Disturbed bassist John Moyer has also joined the all-star lineup alongside Lombardo and Halford. The addition of Moyer further strengthens the project’s metal credentials. It brings together musicians from different generations and subgenres of heavy music.

The production team behind the album includes seasoned professionals who understand both Shatner’s artistic vision and the metal genre’s demands. Chaoszine noted that the project is being produced by Adam Hamilton of L.A. Guns and Cleopatra Records president Brian Perera. This production partnership ensures the album will maintain professional standards while allowing Shatner’s unique artistic voice to shine through.

Many details about the project remain under wraps despite the collaboration generating significant excitement among both Star Trek fans and metal enthusiasts. 105.7 The Point confirmed that full details including the album title, official release date, and complete tracklist are still forthcoming. The anticipation continues to build as fans await more information about what could become one of the most unusual and ambitious crossover projects in recent music history.

The recruitment of Lombardo adds particular weight to the project, given his legendary status in the thrash metal community. His work with Slayer helped define the sound of extreme metal. His participation signals that Shatner’s metal album is being taken seriously by the genre’s most respected musicians.
