Former Oasis drummer Zak Starkey addressed his exclusion from the band’s potential reunion plans during a recent interview with BBC Breakfast.
Starkey directly contacted the Gallagher brothers regarding his exclusion from the reunion discussions.
“I texted them and said, ‘Why am I not in it?'” Starkey disclosed.
He expressed understanding about the situation and shared his perspective on the band’s current preferences.
“You know, if you get a new drummer, you get comfortable, don’t you? You get comfortable with new musicians and I think that’s what’s happened and I’m alright with that,” he continued.
Speculation continues about a potential Oasis reunion. No official announcement has been made.
Starkey’s history with the legendary British band provides important context to his recent statements.
Drummer World documented Starkey’s significant role with Oasis during their 2005-2006 world tour. He performed at every show and appeared in promotional videos for the band’s singles.
Stop Crying Your Heart Out revealed that Starkey couldn’t become Oasis’ permanent drummer. His existing commitments with The Who prevented a full-time position.
Historical records show both Gallagher brothers have taken separate musical paths since the band’s 2009 breakup. Liam focuses on his solo career. Noel continues with his High Flying Birds project.
Reunion rumors surface periodically. However, no concrete plans exist. The well-documented feud between the Gallagher brothers remains a major obstacle to the band’s reunion.
