Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar was found dead in his Tennessee home on Tuesday, November 26. He was last seen alive on November 4.
The cause of death is yet to be identified, but there is no evidence of foul play, according to NME, as his personal items, including musical equipment and weapons, were untouched.
Bryar played with My Chemical Romance from 2004 until 2010, making him the band’s longest-serving drummer. He first met the band during a 2004 tour and replaced the previous drummer, Matt Pelissier, for their performances in Japan that year.
The drummer joined the lineup after the release of ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ but still appeared in music videos and promotions of the album. He later contributed to 2006’s ‘The Black Parade,’ which achieved great commercial success in the U.S. and U.K.
Bryar parted ways with My Chemical Romance right before 2010’s ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ came out and later retired from music to become a real estate agent.
In his later years, the late musician was active in charity, focusing on animal welfare. He auctioned his ‘Black Parade’ uniform in 2022 to raise money for animal shelters affected by Hurricane Ian in Florida and South Carolina. Previously, he sold a drum kit to support the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Tennessee.
