Ex-Mötley Crüe Singer Addresses The ‘Secret Rehearsals With Nikki Sixx’ Rumors
Former Mötley Crüe singer John Corabi was recently interviewed by Antihero Magazine, during which he expressed his thoughts on the speculations about him and Nikki Sixx doing secret rehearsals.
In 1992, Vince Neil decided to leave Mötley Crüe after the release of their ‘Decade Of Decadance’ album. Shortly after that, John Corabi replaced Vince Neil and recorded a self-titled album with Mötley Crüe in March 1994. Although the record was promising, it turned out to be a commercial disappointment. The reason was mainly that fans wanted Neil back, and Corabi quit Crüe in 1996.
As you know, Vince Neil has been criticized for not taking care of his voice and gaining some weight. The singer recently had problems with his voice during live performances, which disappointed the Crüe fans. Following that, rumors started to circulate, claiming that Nikki Sixx gave Vince Neil an ultimatum. According to the speculations, Sixx threatened to replace him with Corabi if he failed to lose weight before the tour.
After these rumors emerged, Crüe fans tried to reach out to Corabi to ask him if that was true. The singer responded to these claims with an Instagram post back in September and denied them. However, according to a more recent interview, Corabi is still dealing with similar rumors. When he was asked about this incident in a recent interview by Antihero Magazine, the musician revealed that these rumors led to another story.
In the interview, John Corabi stated that although he didn’t consider these rumors important, he received numerous emails from the fans asking him if that was true. He said that this was the reason he wanted to respond to these claims. According to Corabi, the latest rumors about him having secret rehearsals with Nikki Sixx are also far from true. The musician stated that he is currently in Tennessee while Sixx is in another place.
John Corabi told Antihero Magazine on the rumors about him that:
“For the most part, I don’t really pay much mind to it. The only reason why I even remotely answered that one is because I got up in the morning and I was having some coffee and I was checking my emails and different things, and all the fans were writing to me like, ‘Hey, is there any truth to this?’
I literally got, not that it’s that’s thousands, but I got like 20 or 25 emails in the span of like five minutes, and I just figured, you know what, I’m just going to respond to this, say what I got to say, call it a day, and whatever, but it’s just crazy to me, in the span of a week, especially that one site that actually reported it. They went from Vince Neil did a show and then apparently fans were clamoring to have John come back.
So, I let that one go, and then the next one was Nikki Sixx issuing an ultimatum to Vince Neil that if he doesn’t lose 50 pounds we’re bringing John back and I was just like, ‘God.’ I was just laughing about it and I’m like, ‘Yeah, like that’s ever going to happen.'”
He went on to say:
“But then the last one, secret rehearsals, John Corabi, and more than anything I was just sitting there going, ‘How the fuck do you get off on just printing whatever?’ There’s zero truth in any of that, it’s clickbait, but how do you get off on writing just whatever the fuck you want and you’re stringing people along?
Not so much me, so I just figured I’d respond to it and call it a day, and now oddly enough, ever since I did that, then they wrote another story saying that I’m trying to cover it up, that they know for a fact that I’ve been in recording and writing with Nikki and rehearsals and I’m like, ‘Well, that’s funny because the last time I checked I’m in Tennessee, Nikki’s in fucking Wyoming or wherever he lives.’ It’s whatever, so I’m not even going to respond anymore. It’s a waste of time.”
As it seems, John Corabi is quite frustrated about being the subject of these rumors. Moreover, it is more than likely that the musician won’t be making any musical efforts with Mötley Crüe in the future.
