The Truth Behind The Rumors That Vince Neil Received An Ultimatum From Nikki Sixx
Former Mötley Crüe frontman John Corabi recently revealed in an Instagram post whether Nikki Sixx made a firm request to Vince Neil or not.
Back in 1992, John Corabi joined Mötley Crüe after they parted ways with Vince Neil. According to Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, they chose Corabi because he can sing anything and everything. With Mötley Crüe, the musician recorded their self-titled album in 1994 and the EP ‘Quaternary.’
However, although the album’s sound was heavier and quite distinctive from the rest of the band’s music catalog, it was commercially unsuccessful. After their concert in Tucson, which turned out to be a failure, Crüe’s record label refused to continue funding the band unless Vince Neil returned.
Therefore, Corabi abruptly left the band, and Neil returned in 1997. Nevertheless, he was credited for co-writing some of the songs featured in ‘Generation Swine’ and was portrayed in the 2019 biopic ‘The Dirt.’ However, according to Nikki Sixx, working with Corabi was a difficult experience. In an interview with the Sweden Rock Magazine, the bassist once stated that the making of 1994s ‘Mötley Crüe’ LP was painful because John could not write lyrics.
As reported by Brave Words, Nikki Sixx told Sweden Rock Magazine about the album that:
“I’ve gotta tell you, I think it was a very unfocused record. It was painful for me because John Corabi can’t write lyrics, and I had to do all that work. It was the first time I ever had to work with somebody that wanted to participate in the lyrics. And my standard is so high that it was just… it was so hard, it took months. He was a nice enough guy but he just didn’t have that fire, and it was hard for me.”
Recently, some rumors have been circulating about the possibility of Corabi replacing Vince Neil during the Stadium Tour. According to some, Nikki Sixx told Neil that if he fails to lose weight before the tour, he will be replaced by Corabi. Furthermore, it was claimed that Crüe held secret rehearsals with the musician in LA last month.
To respond to these claims, John Corabi posted a statement on his Instagram recently. In his post, Corabi included a picture of a news headline concerning the rumors and harshly denied the claims. He then added that Nikki used him as leverage for his ultimatum to Vince.
John Corabi’s Instagram post read:
“I’ve received a ton of messages from a lot of you who have unfortunately fallen for this ‘crock of shit!’ Here’s the real deal… I can categorically state here once and for all that the chances of my ‘return’ to Mötley are 0%.
1) There is no way, Nikki ordered an ultimatum to Vince, and used me as leverage!
2) There were absolutely zero secret rehearsals.
3) After my incredibly stupid portrayal in ‘The Dirt Movie,’ and the ludicrous shitty statements of one of the band members in regards to my contributions and lack of ‘writing talents,’ yours truly is not even remotely interested in doing that again… Don’t buy into the ‘clickbait bullshit!’ I wish Tommy, Nikki, Mick, and Vince the best on their tour and their future endeavors!”
