Former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones and guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz named their collaboration Burn Eternal.
“Thai food lunch date! It’s been a busy year for us, but we finally have our album mixed,” Jones wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. “Our schedules have caused this to take longer than expected, thanks for bearing with us.”
“Back to work. We are Burn Eternal. See you soon,” the singer concluded his message by sharing a photo with Dutkiewicz.
Adam explained to Ore Bihovsky on TotalRock’s Louder show how the project came together, saying, “[Howard] just hit me up. He was, like, ‘Why don’t you write some music for me?’ And I was, like, ‘Sure.’ So yeah, we’re working on a record right now.”
“I’ve got so much on my plate right now. It’s really hard to schedule anything particularly, like ‘it’s gonna come out at this point,’ ‘it’s gonna come out at this point,’ but we’re just almost at a situation where we can maybe release a single,” the guitarist shared when fans might hear the first music from the project.
He continued, “But I think the entire record’s gonna take a little bit longer than expected. Because now I have to do double duty and record [the next] Killswitch [album] at the same time. So I’ll be doing that.”
In August 2023, Jones wrote on Instagram that they made ’13 demos’ and hoped to finish the record soon. Jones left Killswitch Engage in 2012. He struggled with manic depression and bipolar disorder before starting a new band, Devil You Know.
The group included guitarist Francesco Artusato, drummer John Sankey, and bassist Ryan Wombacher. They released two albums, ‘The Beauty of Destruction’ and ‘They Bleed Red.’ In 2017, the band renamed itself Light The Torch. Jones also appeared on Killswitch Engage’s 2019 album ‘Atonement,’ singing on ‘The Signal Fire.’
