Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto opened up about the band’s decision to part ways with drummer Alex Bent and bring in Alex Rüdinger, highlighting how the group handles lineup changes after two decades together, according to Belgian Jasper.

“Yeah, you just have to kind of pick back up, start again. I guess for us it’s a lot easier, being a band for 20 years. We have a pretty established thing. We have our records. We know them really well. It’s, like, we know who we are,” Gregoletto said.

He reflected on how experience and maturity have helped the band navigate lineup shifts more smoothly. “It was harder going through that in the beginning, but now it’s… I don’t wanna say that we’re used to it, because it’s been nine years [since the last time we had to change drummers], so it’s not something we were expecting, but you, I guess, can weather and handle these kind of things a lot better,” he explained.

Gregoletto also emphasized the professional mindset that comes with age and longevity in the band. “I think being our age, that’s part of it too. Maybe when you’re younger, it’s a lot more of an emotional thing. But I don’t feel like that now. I just know what we’ve gotta do, and I wanna get to it and I wanna get to the tour. I wanna make sure this tour, for the people coming out, this is the best Trivium show you’ve ever seen. And it’s gotta be that level,” he added.

Trivium has built a reputation for consistent live performances and a devoted fanbase, and Gregoletto’s comments underscore the band’s focus on delivering high-quality shows regardless of personnel changes. The addition of Rüdinger is the latest chapter in Trivium’s 20-year career, demonstrating the group’s resilience and commitment to their craft.

Fans can expect the band to hit the road soon, with Gregoletto promising that the upcoming tour will showcase the band at its peak performance.
