Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes shared the one thing he loves about art while referring to it as a curse surrounding him. During a recent interview with FT, Rhodes spoke about creativity and shared his love for everything involving art- especially lava lamps.

After discussing his song ‘Lava Lamp,’ which came out in 2000, Rhodes revealed that he has been collecting items that represent pop culture. Calling it a curse, he shared:

“It’s a curse. I collect mostly photography and art but also pop culture items, mainly books – design, fashion, and cinema. I’m attracted to visual things.”

Considering his attraction to visual matters, it’s not unusual to see the keyboardist get attracted to AI as well, which helps create images with only a few prompts. He said of AI:

“I’m completely obsessed with AI. It’s a powerful tool that, if used properly with great ideas, can enhance the things you do.”

He then revealed where they used AI in their upcoming album:

“[We recently made] a video with creative director Linc Gasking for the song ‘Danse Macabre’ that is very special – something that people haven’t done with AI before: a 3D-animated masterpiece.”

The band’s upcoming album ‘Danse Macabre’ will be released on October 27, in time for Halloween. The Halloween-themed record includes many notable guest names, such as Nile Rodgers, Victoria de Angelis, Andy Taylor, Mr. Hudson, and Warren Cuccurullo. Duran Duran also included the covers of Talking Heads, Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Rolling Stones, and more.
