Dino Cazares has confirmed that Trent Reznor had an ashtray thrown at him, recalling the incident while engaging with fans on X.
Cazares asked his followers who he should collaborate with. In response, a user mentioned Reznor. Another user replied, warning to ‘avoid the man’ for reasons unrelated to music: “NO. Not for musical reasons. Enjoy his music, avoid the man. Dino may know why Trent famously went missing for months. Was from Paul Raven’s LA backyard, swift gentleman’s justice. Trent reappeared when knew no cops or mobs waiting.” The comment referenced the ashtray incident, sharing a GIF of a kid getting hit with a stone, resembling what allegedly happened with Reznor.
Cazares then clarified that the ashtray incident took place in 2005, during the recording of the Roadrunner United project. This project involved Joey Jordison, Trivium’s Matt Heafy, Cazares, and Robb Flynn of Machine Head, along with contributions from Slipknot’s Paul Gray.
When the previous user asked, “So Trent Reznor had an ashtray thrown at him by Paul Raven in his backyard during or around the 2005 sessions for Road Runner United? Am I following this correctly?” Cazares corrected them, “Paul Raven? Him and Trent Reznor had nothing to do with RR United. But u might be thinking of Paul [Gray].”
Trent Reznor has not commented on the incident, and there is no official confirmation or information about it. Additionally, Reznor was not involved in Roadrunner United.
Roadrunner United resulted in the album ‘The All-Star Sessions,’ released on October 11, 2005. A concert was held on December 15, 2005, at the Nokia Theater in New York City to celebrate the album and anniversary. It featured musicians from both past and present Roadrunner bands, as well as others who didn’t appear on the album.
