In a 2021 interview with CNN, Arnold Schwarzenegger said ‘screw your freedom‘ to the people who refused to wear masks during the pandemic. When a video of his statements resurfaced on social media, Dee Snider jumped on Twitter to back up the actor. In response to a post sharing the footage, in which Schwarzenegger expressed his opinions, he wrote:

“Me and Arnold Schwarzenegger always see eye-to-eye.”

A few hours later, Snider sent out another tweet, praising the actor and his docu-series ‘Arnold.’ He commented:

“Watched Netflix’s Arnold Schwarzenegger doc. Bravo for sharing your life, warts & all. He’s an amazing man & I was glad to see myself in the doc with him during his gubernatorial run. He’s such a huge influence on me; I was glad to help. I’m honored to call Schwarzenegger a friend.

When a Twitter user criticized the singer for his words about Arnold Schwarzenegger, claiming:

“Arnie, ‘screw your freedom’ is a pal? With friends like that…”

Snider made it clear who the actor’s words were meant for and said:

“No! Schwarzenegger wasn’t talking to us! He was talking to those a** wipes who couldn’t handle a piece of paper over their mouths and noses to protect others from getting Covid. Oh…are you one of those a** wipes? Then yeah… Schwarzenegger was talking to you.”

Around the same time Schwarzenegger talked to CNN about the anti-maskers, the Twisted Sister frontman was making his own statements about them on Twitter. He refused to let the people protesting against masks use his songs by writing:

“These people do NOT have my permission to use my song. I totally disagree with their position and beliefs on masks and the covid vaccine. They really need to get a hobby.”
