Dee Snider has explained why Sebastian Bach was the right choice to step in for him in Twisted Sister.
Snider stepped down from the band’s ongoing comeback shows because of health issues. He said Bach’s fit with the group was never about imitation. It was about the respect Bach brings to the material.
“It’s not a Sebastian Bach sounds like me or perfectly copies me,” Snider said. “It’s the open love and respect he shows for me, the songs I’ve written and Twisted Sister.”
Bach responded to Snider’s comments with an appreciative message of his own.
“I’ve always been a fan and proud to call you my friend!” Bach said. “Whole New appreciation 4 the lyrics & melody lines which I completely love singing! Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration Dee Snider!! Cya TOMORROW Niagara Falls Sat Windsor Ontario otherwise known as South Detroit! SMF2.”
The exchange comes after a turbulent year for the band. Its planned reunion was derailed in February 2026 when Snider announced his sudden resignation. He cited “health challenges.” He later described them as degenerative arthritis, along with heart problems and hypertension. Snider said the pain had become severe enough that he could only perform a few songs at a time. The original reunion tour dates were scrapped.
Twisted Sister regrouped with Bach on lead vocals. The former Skid Row frontman is among the best-known voices in 1980s hard rock. He was named as Snider’s stand-in in March. Bach has said he received Snider’s full blessing before taking the job.
The two singers share a long, friendly history. Snider publicly praised Bach in 2020, saying he loved him and appreciated his support during a difficult period. That background helps explain the warmth in their latest exchange.
Twisted Sister has since rebuilt its schedule around the new lineup. The band is set to play the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Oct. 8. It will then perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, on Oct. 10. Those dates follow earlier shows in Palmer, Alaska, and Durant, Oklahoma.
