Dee Snider has announced his first new project following his decision to step down from Twisted Sister’s upcoming reunion tour, as reported on X.
The Twisted Sister frontman revealed his collaboration with reunited band Cactus, where he was featured on their new single “The Little Red Rooster.”
This marks Snider’s first musical project after stepping away from the tour due to health issues including degenerative arthritis, heart problems, and hypertension that prompted doctors to warn him, “You’re done. Your body parts are worn out, and you got nothing left.”
“Just because I can’t perform doesn’t mean I can’t sing!” Snider said.
The announcement demonstrates Snider’s continued commitment to music despite the health challenges that prevented him from participating in Twisted Sister’s planned reunion performances. He now focuses on family and other creative pursuits like directing his first film.
Snider’s health struggles stem from decades of aggressive performing that have taken a severe toll on his body. Entertainment Now reported that the 71-year-old rocker was forced to confront the reality of his physical limitations when doctors delivered the stark warning about his deteriorating condition. The degenerative arthritis developed from years of high-energy stage performances that defined Twisted Sister’s legendary live shows.
The decision to step away from the band’s 50th-anniversary reunion tour was particularly difficult for Snider, who had been looking forward to celebrating the milestone with fans. Parade noted that multiple health concerns including newly discovered heart issues and hypertension compounded his existing arthritis problems. This made it impossible for him to continue performing at the level fans expect.
Despite these setbacks, Snider remains active in other creative endeavors. The Music revealed that he is now focusing on family time at his North Carolina compound. He continues to host his syndicated radio show “House of Hair” and works on directing his first film project.
The collaboration with Cactus represents a new chapter for Snider, allowing him to continue contributing to music without the physical demands of touring. His partnership on “The Little Red Rooster” shows that his performing days may be behind him, but his creative spirit and distinctive voice remain as powerful as ever.
