David Lee Roth Fans Harass Sammy Hagar’s Son, Andrew Hagar Reveals

In a recent interview with Chuck Shute, Sammy Hagar’s son Andrew Hagar opened up about his experiences on social media. He shared that he has been subjected to harassment from David Lee Roth fans and others who blame his father for the decline of Van Halen.

The young musician claimed people targeted him because of a dispute surrounding the band. This hostility came not only from die-hard Roth fans but also from those who believed the Red Rocker played a role in the band’s downfall, and it appears they were channeling their anger toward him.

Andrew recounted how he was bombarded with daily hate messages on his social media accounts, which eventually led him to block most of the individuals responsible. He expressed surprise at the willingness of people to invest their time and energy into attacking a stranger on the internet.

To explain his point, he stated:

“[People hate me] because of the whole Van Halen feud. I mean, I have people who are massive David Lee Roth fans or people who think my father ruined Van Halen that just direct all that ire toward me.

I’ve blocked a lot of those people now. So, it’s not as bad as it used to be, but for a long time, I would get crazy messages every day. Many messages every day. Usually going into my, you know, whatever that other folder is on Instagram for people you don’t follow or people that don’t follow you.

But, yeah, it’s just – it blows my mind that people have that kind of time and want to spend that kind of emotional energy just trying to completely eviscerate a stranger who may or may not ever see what they’re saying. It just blows my mind, [Laughs].”

Despite the rocky relationship between Sammy Hagar and his former bandmates, the vocalist has expressed appreciation for the time he spent with Van Halen. However, Andrew’s recent claims reveal the ongoing bitterness and complex legacy of the Van Halen feud.
