In a recent YouTube video titled ‘This Crazy Kid..,’ David Lee Roth has launched an attack on Wolfgang Van Halen.

Roth’s words show trouble behind the scenes of their tours. He says Wolfgang kept complaining about not getting enough attention during performances. Roth shared times when he felt Wolfgang’s actions were working against him, saying:

“This f*cking kid, he’s complaining the entire tour like I’m not paying enough attention to him on stage. Like Santa Claus coming down the chimney and popping out on Christmas with nobody paying attention. Shalom to the dome, homie. I’m giving him the best. Everything I’ve got in front of twenty, thirty thousand people at a clip, and he’s complaining to everybody around me — the business manager, the security guy, the clothing lady — ‘Dave’s not paying enough attention to me.'”

Roth’s Dispute Over Guest Treatment

During a show at Jones Beach, New York, things got worse. DLR said Wolfgang took control of some security staff to kick out two women Roth had invited, making their relationship even more tense. The singer noted:

“Cut to New York City — glamorous, glistening, shimmering New York City, and we’re at Jones Beach with twenty thousand of my closest friends. I walk out into the middle of the stage, and I’m gonna do ‘Ice Cream Man,’ and I’m testifying to the brothers, Eddie [Van Halen] and Al [Alex Van Halen], ‘Man, this is how many times we’ve played New York. This is spectacular.'”

He added:

“And what I don’t know is this kid, this schlemiel kid, has commandeered a couple of monkeys to go in back, behind my back, over to the side of the stage and throw out these two great dames that I invited to be my guests to the show. And these dames are in their forties, okay?”

Wolfgang’s Controversial Decision And Roth’s Take On Sammy Hagar

The rocker also talked about their last concert in Hollywood, at the Hollywood Bowl. He got emotional, remembering their early days playing at a small club called Gazzarri’s. Just as he was about to perform ‘Ice Cream Man,’ he said Wolfgang caused trouble by having security remove a woman from backstage. Roth was upset because she was not only his guest but also the accountant carrying paychecks and bonuses for their crew.

Adding to the controversy, Diamond Dave also took aim at Sammy Hagar, another former Van Halen frontman, in a recent video titled ‘The Ballad Of Popsicle Sam.’ Roth mocked Hagar’s claim of an alien abduction and suggested it as the reason behind Hagar’s ‘questionable conduct’ over the years.
