David Ellefson Says He Plays With The Guy Who Invented Thrash Metal Genre Referring To Dave Mustaine

Megadeth bass guitarist David Ellefson spoke in a recent interview with The Classic Metal Show and talked about his new project with Sons Of Apollo singer Jeff Scott Soto.

In the conversation, Ellefson was asked what the band will sound like, named Ellefson-Soto, and Ellefson mentioned that the idea behind playing in a sideband was having fun.

While saying that he won’t play thrash metal with this project because he is playing with the greatest thrash band in the world, he also didn’t forget to praise Dave Mustaine.

Ellefson stated that Dave is the one who invented the genre and said that there are lots of things that don’t fit with Megadeth, and he will focus on these parts with this band.

Here is what David Ellefson said:

“I look at it like this. When people come to me, they go, ‘Oh, dude. It’s thrash,’ and, ‘It’s heavy,’ it’s, like, I’m already in the greatest thrash band in the history of the world, so I don’t need to do thrash anywhere else. I do that in Megadeth.

I play with the guy who invented the genre. So, to me, when I do other things, it’s fun to expand. And I’m always writing. I bring certain things into Megadeth that I know are fitting, I think, of that style. There’s a lot of stuff I write that’s not, and I don’t bring it there.”
