David Draiman recently shared his thoughts on the Super Bowl Halftime Show, suggesting that Metallica should be the next act.
In an interview with Audacy Music, the Disturbed frontman stated, “Metallica has been deserving of this for decades at this point. If there is anybody in the entire hard rock and metal world that should be playing Super Bowl halftime show it is Metallica.”
He also shared his desire to be considered for singing the national anthem after Metallica and jokingly added, “I would humbly request that I just be considered to sing the national anthem my whole life. Then once Metallica’s had their shot, if they want to consider us a couple years down the line to go ahead and play halftime, you give me a call, we’re available.”
Apart from Draiman, other rockers also want to see rock and metal acts for the next performances. Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares earlier said of the matter: “When are they going to bring Rock/Metal to the Superbowl? Metallica, AC/DC etc…”
Actor Joe Manganiello also started a petition to see Metallica perform at the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. “Just saying… next year’s Super Bowl is at San Francisco’s home stadium… How about a little known local band named Metallica for the half time show?,” he wrote on X.
This year’s halftime performance featured Kendrick Lamar. The rapper performed his hit song, ‘Not Like Us.’ Since his performance, speculation has begun about who could headline next year’s show.
Potential candidates for the 2026 Halftime Show include SZA, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, BTS, Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, Metallica, and Linkin Park.
