Sammy Hagar Reacts To Viral David Lee Roth Comparison, ‘Even The Haters Will Love It’

Van Halen fans recently brought Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth back into the limelight. Celebrating their birthdays and the legacy they left with VH, they took to social media and shared a post. Hagar responded to the fans’ tribute by reposting a side-by-side photo of himself and Roth.

Both VH singers were born under the Libra zodiac sign: Hagar on October 13, 1947, and Roth on October 10, 1954. Fans wrote ‘Happy Birthday Libras’ on the picture and described their eras as ‘decades of badass rock and roll.’

Along with the picture, Hagar shared a playful caption, hinting at the humorous nature of their viral comparison:

“This is going around the internet, and couldn’t help myself… Even the haters gotta love this one! neither one of us are getting any younger; happy birthday, Dave. I guess it’s a libra thing!”

Hagar’s response prompted a wave of comments from fans, to which he later expressed gratitude:

“Too many wonderful comments to try and answer all of them. But sincerely wanna thank everyone for the birthday wishes and whoever started sharing this post. I think it’s pretty f*cking cool. Cheers. I will be toasting you all tomorrow night live again from the Cabo Wabo.”

The Red Rocker is celebrating his birthday with his annual Birthday Bash, set to take place at the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The event is spanning three days – October 9th, 11th, and 13th, starting at 9:30 PM. Attendees with tickets can begin queuing up from as early as 2 PM.

A unique feature of this year’s bash included limited Dinner Show tickets, allowing fans to experience the concert after a dinner seating at the Cantina. These special tickets were sold in person on a first-come, first-served basis.

Back in July, Hagar spoke about the prospects of a Van Halen reunion. In an interview on THAT Rocks!, he indicated the challenges of organizing a reunion, particularly the unresponsiveness of Alex Van Halen and the perceived indifference from David Lee Roth.

As for other news, ‘Van Halen – The Collection II’ is out now. A 5-CD box set spotlighting the band’s second incarnation with Hagar, the album includes newly remastered versions of four albums, along with numerous rare tracks recorded between 1989 and 2004. You can get yours here.
