Dave Grohl performed Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’ at Foo Fighters’ Denver concert to support the band after the recent Trump incident.
The rocker supports Tenacious D despite recent backlash over Kyle Gass’ joke about an assassination attempt on Trump. Grohl played part of ‘Tribute’ during the acoustic set. He only sang the first verse before admitting he didn’t know all the lyrics, saying:
“I only played the drums on that song.”
What Did Gass Say?

At a Tenacious D concert in Australia last month, Gass was asked to make a birthday wish and said:
“Don’t miss Trump next time.”
Gass faced backlash, especially from the conservative side. He first apologized for his comment, calling it a ‘terrible mistake,’ but later deleted the apology from Instagram. Here is what he had said in his apology:
“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anymore. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret and pain I’ve caused.”
Jack Black Stopped Touring

Jack Black said on social media that he had canceled Tenacious D’s tour because of the backlash against Gass. The singer stated:
“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
Gass was dropped by his talent agent after his joke. Tenacious D was set to start a U.S. tour in October but this is now unsure. Black already has a new project. Jack is voicing Claptrap in the new ‘Borderlands’ movie. It will be in theaters and IMAX on August 9.
