On the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl talked about the time he saw his mother while she was hanging out with Green Day members during one of his tours.
As you may know, Dave Grohl was also a successful documentary filmmaker and he released his latest film entitled ‘ What Drives Us’ on April 30, 2021. The documentary consisted of the memories of iconic bands such as Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters’ early touring days. Annie Clark, Steven Tyler, Flea, and Ringo Starr were the special guest stars of the documentary.
In addition, Grohl has produced and will be the host of another docu-series which will be based on the book entitled ‘From Cradle To Stage: Stories From The Mother Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars.’ The book was written by Dave Grohl’s mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl. Virginia had interviews with the mothers of different rock stars, Geddy Lee, Tom Morello, Mike D, Adam Levine, and the late Amy Winehouse.
As a promotion of his six-part docu-series, ‘From Cradle To Stage,’ Dave Grohl became the co-host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on its latest episode. He told the story about when he saw his mother and Green Day members together. When her mother was retired, she decided to join her son for the tours. After he finished playing on the stage, he went to look for his mother. Apparently, Dave caught his mother drinking beers with Green Day members which he thought was very cool.
Here’s what Dave Grohl stated:
“My mother was a public school teacher for 30 years, and when she retired, I was like, ‘Mom, don’t do that cruise ship thing. I was like, ‘I’ve got a cruise ship – it’s a tour bus! Let’s go!’ And she started going on tour with me.
I gave her a laminate and she would just go and hang out, and I’d be on stage playing and then get offstage and be like, ‘Where’s my mom?!’ and she’d be drinking beers with Green Day upstairs and hanging out – she’s very cool!“
