Avril Lavigne Gives An Update On Her Health Status After Battling With Lyme Disease

Avril Lavigne spoke to Entertainment and talked about her current health status after struggling with a severe disease which inspired her latest album. Also, the pop-punk icon addressed the place of music in her life and expressed her feelings and thoughts about this new era.

After six years of waiting, Avril Lavigne released her sixth studio album entitled ‘Head Above Water’ on February 15, 2019, and it received very positive reviews from the music critics and fans who thought that the legend was back. The main reason behind this longest gap between the two albums was Lavigne’s Lyme Disease, which can cause severe headaches with neck stiffness, heart palpitations, and loss of the ability to move.

Unfortunately, Lavigne was diagnosed with the disease after her 30th birthday in 2014, and she stated that ‘she was in bed for years‘ because of it. So, she couldn’t do anything but rest most of the time. However, the famous singer didn’t give up and decided to reflect her experiences with Lyme Disease on the latest album, which Lavigne described as an emotional journey. In addition, the fans noticed the change in the musician’s style after this terrible experience.

That’s why the journalists wanted her to give more details about this experience by asking about her current health status in the interview. Lavigne responded to the question, saying that she feels really good and thankful for returning to creating and performing music. The Queen of Pop Punk reflected her feelings and said she was delighted and excited about working on her upcoming seventh studio album, which can be considered a new era of her life.

The journalist’s question read:

Your health had a massive impact on your last album, so how are you doing now? How did that affect how you worked on this album?”

Lavigne replied:

“I’m feeling really good. It’s nice to be at this point in my life, still making music, and I’m here today not because I have to but because I want to be. I just fall in love with music over and over. I’m really happy and feeling great and really looking forward to starting this new era.”

On November 10, 2021, Avril Lavigne released her latest single, ‘Bite Me,’ featuring Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, her new album’s lead single, and promised that it will be worth waiting since the song is a ‘taste of what’s to come.’ It can be said that Lavigne is sure that the upcoming record will hit the charts and receive critical acclaim.
