Eagles of Death Metal singer Jesse Hughes shared his thoughts on the dynamic between Dave Grohl and Josh Homme in an interview with Alternative Nation. He also explained how the relationship shaped Grohl’s career.

“I think it was the best thing that Dave Grohl had going for him when Queens happened. It allowed him to segue into Foo Fighters, of course,” Hughes said.

He added that the friendship and creative connection between the two musicians is rooted in Homme’s influence. “But I think the relationship, in my humble opinion, flows from Joshua. I think that in terms of who needs who, Joshua is not the one that’s needy the most. And their relationship is incredible. Joshua to me, is the benchmark,” Hughes continued.

Grohl, known for his work as Nirvana’s drummer and the frontman of Foo Fighters, has often spoken about his admiration for Homme and the impact of their collaborations in Queens of the Stone Age. Their partnership, which has spanned decades, has been credited with helping Grohl expand his musical range and gain the confidence to lead Foo Fighters.

The connection between Grohl and Homme extends beyond the studio, with both musicians frequently supporting each other in live performances and side projects. Hughes’ comments shed light on the mentorship and mutual respect at the heart of their relationship.

Fans have long speculated about how key collaborations influenced Grohl’s career trajectory, and Hughes’ remarks underscore Homme’s role as a guiding force. While Grohl’s success is often celebrated independently, Hughes emphasizes that the Foo Fighters frontman’s rise was, in part, shaped by his work with Homme.
