Dani Filth has addressed accusations of cowardice following the cancellation of another Cradle of Filth concert. He explained the safety concerns that led to the decision in a statement shared on Instagram.
The frontman’s response focused on defending the band’s decision to cancel their Guatemala show due to serious electrical safety issues at the venue.
“Contrary to the belief that Cradle Of Filth betrayed the Guatamalan fans by being divas, the venue electrics last night had no grounded Earth. People without brains, it’s simple physics,” Filth said. “We had two members shocked quite badly during the day and we all ran the risk of possible electrocution.”
He emphasized the severity of the safety risks and criticized the promoter’s handling of the situation.
“The two bands allowed to play by the frankly careless promoter, were very lucky. The fact that no-one was hurt during their performances is a f**king miracle,” he continued. “Please know that Cradle Of Filth and their crew worked tirelessly all day to make the show happen, but in the end there was nothing we could do.”
Filth concluded by defending the band’s decision and promising to return to Guatemala under safer conditions.
“I dare anyone to risk their lives for a concert, however much the audience demand it. If you still think us cowards and divas then that’s on you I’m afraid. We’re alive and onto our next shows,” he stated. “Guatamala, we will come back and make up for this show, but never with this greedy promoter who put other people’s lives at risk for profit and only at a venue that is electrically safe.”
The incident occurred during what was supposed to be a highlight of the band’s current touring schedule. Metal Addicts reported that the Guatemala City show at Parque de la Industria was scheduled for September 9 as part of their 2025 tour dates.
The cancellation represents a significant disruption to the band’s carefully planned itinerary. Concerts Metal noted that Cradle of Filth’s 2025 tour includes multiple international stops. Performances are scheduled in San Salvador on September 7 and upcoming dates in Las Vegas in December.
This Guatemala show was particularly notable as it was the only concert canceled due to safety concerns during their current tour cycle. The band had successfully completed their San Salvador performance just two days prior without incident. This made the electrical hazards at the Guatemala venue all the more concerning.
The venue’s electrical problems created an unprecedented safety risk that forced the band to prioritize crew and performer safety over fan expectations. The ungrounded electrical system caused two band members to receive shocks during setup. It represented a clear and present danger that could have resulted in serious injury or death during the live performance.
Despite the disappointment expressed by fans, Filth’s reference to Epica’s successful Guatemala performance at a different venue last year suggests that the band remains committed to returning to the country under proper safety conditions.
