Damiano David Responds To Måneskin Haters With Iggy Pop Reference

Following their Eurovision success, Måneskin became one of the biggest rock acts that made a breakthrough in recent years. Still, this doesn’t prevent them from getting bashed. Known for his outspokenness, Damiano David recently chatted with Variety and targeted their haters by reminding them of something related to Iggy Pop.

I Wanna Be Your Slave’ was everywhere after the 2021 Eurovision song contest, and even the ones who didn’t know about Måneskin knew of the song. After the tremendous success of this hit, the band decided to get in the studio with Iggy Pop to record a new version. The exciting collab then hit the shelves on August 6, 2021.

After the release, Iggy Pop expressed his admiration for Måneskin’s talent and called them a ‘really strong band.’ Iggy was right — Måneskin rose to stardom rapidly and opened for the Rolling Stones, received a Grammy nomination, and performed at famous festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. Now, they are promoting their latest album ‘Rush!

Despite their success, Måneskin is still on the radar of haters. Speaking to Variety, Damiano David reminded them of their achievements and questioned what else they had to do. He then poked fun at them by asking what they should do to earn the respect of ‘Peppino from Molfetta,’ referring to an imaginary person from a small town in Italy.

Here is what Damiano David said for the haters:

“I would like to say to them: ‘Sorry, we’ve done a song with Iggy Pop, we’ve opened for the Rolling Stones, we’ve been the first to win this and that. What else do I have to do to get respect? What more can I do to be respected by Peppino from Molfetta?”

Released on January 20, ‘Rush!’ features a song titled ‘Bla Bla Bla,’ which they wrote to address Måneskin haters. Apparently, Damiano is fed up with the hate in the community, and this makes him wonder what else they need to do to get respected in the rock music scene.
