After a long absence from the public eye and a silence on social media, Courtney Love made a return, joining Billie Joe Armstrong on stage during an intimate London gig.
Recently, at The Garage in Islington, London, Love graced the stage alongside Armstrong’s side project, The Coverups. The band, known for their spontaneous performances and classic rock and punk covers, announced two surprise gigs in the city, attracting a diverse audience, including rockers and comedy icons.
Love Takes The Stage

As The Coverups powered through hits from The Ramones, Pretenders, and more, the crowd’s enthusiasm reached a peak with chants for Armstrong. The climax of the evening came when the singer introduced Courtney to the stage, saying:
“Ladies and gentlemen, Courtney Love.”
Love, with her characteristic wit, quipped about her long absence before diving into performances that included hits by Cheap Trick and Tom Petty:
“Thank you, Billie Joe. My name is Courtney Love – you may not remember me. I’ve been living in a cave in Birmingham for about nine years. We’ll give this a f*cking try, right?”
Courtney’s Social Media Tease

Despite her onstage presence, Love has remained largely absent from social media. However, in October 2023, she broke this hiatus with a series of TikTok videos. In these, she teased new music and shared snippets of her life, all the while insisting on her disinterest in maintaining a social media presence. She stated:
“I’m not organized. Some sort of randomly picking. It must be for mum, how to use the f*cking internet. Anyway, good night. Enjoy what I’ve gifted you so far. There is so much more to come, but I think that’s the longest record that’s ever been written in the history of rock. So it better be f*cking good, no filler.”
Courtney joined the band for lively covers of Cheap Trick’s ‘He’s a Whore’ and Petty’s ‘Even the Losers’, returning later for another Cheap Trick hit, ‘Surrender.’ The night was filled with other notable performances, including hits like ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ by Tommy James & the Shondells, ‘Last Nite’ by The Strokes, ‘Drain You’ by Nirvana, and ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’ by The Clash. Billie Joe Armstrong and the band also played ‘Love Is For Losers’ from his project The Longshot.
