Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante has addressed concerns about the unauthorized release of their new song ‘Crystal Roses’ on X (formerly Twitter).
A fan commented: “It just dropped on Apple music, but I am avoiding listening to it until the album drops!! I’m gonna go to the record store and purchase the album instead of streaming it.”
LaPlante responded: “I don’t mind if you listen to it! I want everyone to hear my music. I just didn’t intend for this to be released on any streaming services. The only thing I was made aware of was that we would have it played on BBC Radio One today.”
“This is a situation of poor communication, rather than a hostile takeover,” she continued. “We’ve never had something like this happen before. Nothing was done with ill intent, but still disappointing.”
LaPlante had earlier announced that ‘Crystal Roses,’ a track from Spiritbox’s upcoming album ‘Tsunami Sea,’ appeared on streaming platforms without the band’s authorization.
The incident coincides with a crucial period for the band’s upcoming releases and performances.
Reports from Audilous confirm that the band quickly removed the track from streaming platforms. LaPlante and her team worked immediately to address the situation.
Data from The PRP shows that ‘Tsunami Sea’ will release on March 7th, 2025, through Pale Chord/Rise Records. The band has already released several singles including ‘Soft Spine,’ ‘Perfect Soul,’ and ‘No Loss, No Love.’
Insights from The PRP highlight Spiritbox’s extensive touring schedule. The band will perform with acts like Periphery, Stray From The Path, and Loathe. They will also appear at major festivals including Rock im Park and Download Festival.
The unauthorized release of ‘Crystal Roses’ marks an unprecedented situation for the band. This incident occurred just days before their sophomore album launch. It demonstrates the challenges of managing digital releases in today’s music industry.
