Besides his works with Slipknot and Stone Sour, Corey Taylor also has a remarkable solo career. The singer has been reading to release his second solo record, ‘CMF2,’ in the upcoming months of 2023. During a recent conversation with NME, Taylor shared the details of his new album and Guns N’ Roses‘ impact on it.

With his first solo record, ‘CMFT,’ Taylor made an impressive debut, achieving significant chart success. In February 2022, he released ‘CMFB…Sides,’ a B-sides album of his solo debut record, which is a mixture of covers, acoustic tracks, and live versions. In January, the singer had shared his excitement about his upcoming solo album by saying that it included all the stuff he always wanted to do.

He gave more details about the record in a new interview and revealed that it was influenced by different periods of music, including ’80s rock, ’90s grunge, and ’70s punk. So, there is a bit of everything in his forthcoming record. Yet, he still tried to make it fresh. As he explained, one of the songs titled ‘Sorry Me’ has an old-school rock vibe.

On the other hand, the song named ‘Talk-Sick,’ has a Guns N’ Roses influence on it with its pure hard rock vibe. Taylor stated that all the stuff in his new solo record comes from the inspirations he listened to while growing up. He can relate to all of them somehow, making this album special for him.

Corey Taylor’s words on ‘CMF2’:

“There’s also ’90s grunge, ’70s punk, and the hard-hitting sh*t that I helped create in the late ’90s and early 2000s. It’s a bit of everything, but it was important for us to make it feel fresh. There’s a dark, solemn acoustic song called ‘Sorry Me’ that’s got a very old school vibe to it, ‘Talk-Sick’ still has an ’80s feel to it, but it’s more of a Guns N’ Roses vibe, which was always the stuff that made you want to run through walls and the first single ‘Beyond’ is going to blow people the f*ck away.

This album is definitely more of a punch in the face. The stuff that largely inspires me comes from the stuff I grew up listening to; street hip-hop, punk, metal, and all the sh*t that feels like it came from someplace that I can relate to and identify with.”

‘CMF2’ is expected to hit the shelves in 2023, but there is no specific release date officially announced by Taylor yet. Considering his excitement and trust in the upcoming album, it seems like the fans have the right to expect a lot.
